By: Saara Rahman On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, the 7th graders went to the Memphis Zoo for a dissection lab. Students were required to wear their P.E uniforms.
The students left the school at 9.am. At their arrival, staff members welcomed them and gave a brief introduction to the lab. Students were given tools such as scissors, probes, and tweezers, for which the zoo staff provided safety protocol. Under careful supervision, students worked together to cut and label frog organs. Students were also able to ask questions directed to their teachers and zoo employees throughout the session. “We got to dissect frogs,” another student said. “It was kind of gross at first, but it was interesting to see the frog’s organ systems”. “A woman walked us through everything,” one 7th grader said. “She explained what to do step by step, and she explained the function of each organ.” After completing the lab, the students went to Cici’s Pizza for lunch and they enjoyed soda and all-you-can-eat pizza before returning to school at 2 p.m. and resuming classes. Combining interactive learning with a lunch outing, the field trip proved to be both educational and enjoyable. Comments are closed.
