By Teanir Yusuf 1. Tell me about yourself. When did you come to PVS?
I came to PVS in 2nd grade after being homeschooled. 2. How has attending a Muslim private school shaped your identity and values? Attending PVS allowed for me to really immerse myself into the teachings of Islam through interacting with fellow Muslims and teachers as opposed to feeling like the odd one out in homeschooling. 3. What are your future goals, and how do you see yourself achieving them? My goal for the future is to become a successful financial lawyer or go into corporate finance. This way I am able to help our brothers and sisters in the community that may not have adequate financial literacy, whether it's running their business or just any financial problems they may come across. I see myself achieving these goals through hard work in college and taking advantage of opportunities that may come my way. 4. If you could pick any quranic verse, hadith, or quote that could describe your experience at PVS, what would it be and why? قُلْ يَـٰعِبَادِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ ۚ لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ فِى هَـٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةٌۭ ۗ وَأَرْضُ ٱللَّهِ وَٰسِعَةٌ ۗ إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى ٱلصَّـٰبِرُونَ أَجْرَهُم بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍۢ ; "Say O Prophet, that Allah says, "O My servants who believe! Be mindful of your Lord. Those who do good in this world will have a good reward. And Allah's earth is spacious. Only those who endure patiently will be given their reward without limit." I use this ayah to show that school is something that you have to be patient with, and this ayah is my reminder of that. 5. What advice do you have for the underclassmen? My advice for the underclassmen is just to learn. Even as a senior right now I don't like any of the work I'm given. Regardless, I still have to use the knowledge and experience I gained throughout my time at PVS in my college admissions process and in my life as well. So even if you don't want to, just learn. 6. What is the worst and best thing about being a senior? The worst thing about being a senior is that everything seems sort of boring and nothing really excites you anymore as there isn't much in the school you haven't done. The best thing about being a senior is that there is a closeness with the teachers and your own classmates as everyone is recognized as their own person and is taken more seriously as we are grown.
