By Teanir Yusuf 1. Tell me about yourself. When did you come to PVS?
Hi, My name is Mazen Gnedy and I’ve spent my whole life at Pleasant view school. I never went to a different school and have been since daycare, so this is my 16th year at PVS. 2. How has attending a Muslim private school shaped your identity and values? Attending PVS has really helped shape my Islamic identity, as almost everything I learned about Islam was thanks to this school and its wonderful teachers. 3. What are your future goals, and how do you see yourself achieving them? N/A 4. If you could pick any quranic verse, hadith, or quote that could describe your experience at PVS what would it be and why? One Hadith that describes my overall experience at PVS is “المرء على دين خليله فلينظر أحدكم من يخالل”. PVS has gave me the benefit of being constantly surrounded by people similar to me. Whether it was teachers or friends, we all had one thing which unites us, Islam. And I think that was one of the best benefits I had at this school. 5. What advice do you have for the underclassmen? Some advice I have for the upcoming senior class is don’t just neglect school work because it's your last year. Put just as much effort as you normally would. But it’s still your last year so enjoy it and make it memorable. 6. What is the worst and best thing about being a senior? I think that’s also the worst part of being a senior, the fact that I won’t be able to walk into the PVS doors for another first day of school. All the teachers, friends, classrooms, and hallways I know will be gone. Soon, a new chapter of life will begin. But that’s the upside to it. You finally get to finish school and start the first bit of your real life in the real world. I am very grateful that I was one of very few students who got to attend PVS for their whole life and was able to learn so much and I’m truly grateful for this blessing Allah gave me.
