By Innas Alhazaza One of the most exciting parts of the school year at PVS is the Boy Scouts program. It’s a boys-only activity, and every year the students look forward to signing up. The program is led by Br. Walid, who puts his heart into planning everything. He’s there every Friday, ready with a new activity or lesson—unless the weather gets really bad, in which case the meeting is canceled. Br. Walid is always thinking ahead, trying to find opportunities for the boys to explore, learn, and spend time outdoors. Whenever he gets the chance, he organizes a camping trip or a special outing. Most of these trips happen on weekends or during school breaks so everyone can participate. Families are always welcome to join, which makes the trips feel even more special. Middle schoolers and older students can go on their own, but the younger boys need a parent with them to keep an eye on things. What makes Boy Scouts so meaningful is the way it teaches the boys to be more independent and confident. They learn practical, hands-on skills—how to build a fire, set up a tent, or handle themselves in new or unfamiliar situations. These are the moments that help them grow, and many of the boys look forward to each new year just to be part of it again. On November 15th, the Boy Scouts headed out on a hiking trip. They left at 9:00 AM, ready for a long drive—about two and a half to three hours outside of Memphis. The weather couldn’t have been better. It was sunny with a cool, refreshing breeze. The hike started off easy, with everyone chatting and enjoying the trail. But as they got closer to the top of the trail, the climb became tougher. The path grew steeper, and the rocks made the hike more challenging. Still, the boys kept going, cheering each other on. And when they finally reached the top, all the hard work was forgotten in an instant. The view was absolutely stunning—rolling hills and mountains stretching out as far as they could see. Mashallah, it was the kind of view that stays with you. Everyone took some time to rest, take pictures, and simply enjoy the moment. It felt peaceful and rewarding to stand at the top after such a climb. The trip ended around 3:00 PM, with everyone gathering to pray together before heading back home. It was a beautiful day—full of adventure, teamwork, and memories that the boys will never forget. Comments are closed.
