By Teanir Yusuf 1. Tell me about yourself. When did you come to PVS?
Hi! My name is Hafsa Khan, I am a senior in PVS. I have been in PVS since Pre-K in the same building. I left PVS at the end of tenth grade to Collierville High School but came back to PVS for my senior year. Being in this school for so long has deepened my attachment to PVS. :) 2. How has attending a Muslim private school shaped your identity and values? I definitely feel that attending a Muslim private school in my adolescence has strengthened my iman and prepared me to meet the real world. As Memphis does not have a numerous Muslim population like other cities, it can take a toll on your iman if you do not have proper backing of the deen. For this reason I am thankful for attending an Islamic school so that i can properly encounter fitnah. (like if at any time there is fitnah near me I know how to steer away from it properly) 3. What are your future goals, and how do you see yourself achieving them? My future goals are to in shaa Allah be a doctor and to teach quran recitation to the younger generation. I plan to have great mentors to teach me knowledge that I do not have. 4. If you could pick any quranic verse, hadith, or quote that could describe your experience at PVS what would it be and why? Surah kahf 13-14. Surah Kahf is a very good surah for the youth to read as a lot of stories told in it are relatable for the youth. Practicing Islam is not limited for the old or the middle-aged. There are a lot of fitnah in the West that we must encounter. It is up to your own character to do good. It is a personal jihad to stay steadfast against wrong. 5. What advice do you have for the underclassmen? No matter what, pray. Whenever you have any doubts or anything, never give up your salah. 6. What is the worst and best thing about being a senior? It is good because I am finally graduating high school but it is sad that I will not be able to make the memories I made in high school again. Comments are closed.
