1. Tell me about yourself. When did you come to PVS?
  • My name is Haniyah Rahman, and I've been attending PVS since Pre-K. I love spending my time reading and baking. I’ve played volleyball during my junior year of high school and also the beginning of my senior year. I have 2 sisters and 2 brothers, and all of them used to or currently attend PVS
2. How has attending a Muslim private school shaped your identity and values?
  • Growing up in an Islamic environment allowed me to learn about Islam every day and deepen my love for it. Seeing muslim classmates and muslim teachers all practicing the same religion that I did made me see what confidence in faith really looks like. It also shaped my comfort and pride in wearing hijab. Being surrounded by teachers who wore hijab with dignity made it feel more natural, rather than something I had to explain. And most importantly, learning to read the quran is a blessing that this environment gave me. Attending a muslim school taught me that Islam isn't just my religion but also a huge part of my identity.
3. What are your future goals, and how do you see yourself achieving them?
  • My future goals include being able to understand the quran, pursuing a career in pharmacy, and growing a family one day. To achieve these goals, I will continue learning Arabic after I graduate and seek a doctorate in Pharmacy, Inshallah.
4. If you could pick any Quranic verse, Hadith, or quote that could describe your experience at PVS what would it be and why?
  • When balancing life, deen, and studying gets hard, I always think of this ayah: لَا يُكَلِّفُ ٱللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا ۚ because it reminds me that when things get hard, Allah knows that I'm capable of getting through it.

5. What advice do you have for the underclassmen?
  • Be present. Enjoy the moments when you’re laughing with your friends, whether it's at the lunch table or in the back of class while the teachers are distracted. One day, you’ll look back and wish you could spend a little more time in those moments. You’ll want to feel carefree and happy again, so don't take it for granted, and always, always,  thank Allah for the constant blessings He's pouring over you. Even something as simple as a blink or a heartbeat is a reminder of his mercy, so always stay grateful.

6. What is the best and worst thing about being a senior?
  • The best part is creating funny and loving memories with my friends, and the worst part is balancing homework and school with scholarship applications and college tasks in general.
