This November, thePVS basketball team played their first few games of the season. This is the first time in PVS history that the basketball team has played in a league against other high schools. Although it has been a slow start for the Panthers, they have been playing their hearts out on the court, starting off with a 1-2 record. Still, the players and their new coach, Dr. Aquil Mohammed, stay hopeful and determined for the oncoming season. Changing the level of competition from the recreational church league to authentic high school basketball comes with challenges, but also many benefits. Introducing the players to this new league allows them to experience the intensity and difficulty of playing real basketball, compared to the easier and less challenging church league. Theplayers will set an example for younger athletes, while at the same time creating lifelong bonds and memories among each other. Team co-captain Mouhammad Sarr says “This season is definitely going to be tough for us, but as long as we put the work in and stay focused, we’ll be alright”. Comments are closed.
