By Ruquyyah Najdawi Ruquyyah N: What’s your favorite thing about being here so far?
Mrs Shahad: Honestly, I think it’s the sense of community. In Arizona, we have a really big community because it’s a much larger place than Memphis. Alhamdulillah, the Muslim community here is strong. I feel like here, even though it's smaller, people always find a way to come together. Finding that close-knit group of good Muslims to surround yourself with is so important, especially for the upcoming generation. Ruquyyah N: What's your favorite thing about being at PVS? Mrs Shahad: Hmm, let’s see... Probably just knowing that I’m making a difference, inshaAllah, in students' lives. That’s a huge motivator for me. Teaching isn’t easy, but even back in Arizona, I always enjoyed helping students grow. Seeing that "aha" moment when they finally understand something—it makes me so happy. Knowing I can do that here with students makes me feel very satisfied. Ruquyyah N: That’s amazing. Last question—what are your hobbies? What do you like to do in your free time? Mrs Shahad: I like exploring new places with my husband. We haven’t been doing much of that lately, but we enjoy finding new restaurants and hanging out with friends. I used to run, but I stopped—running was fun, though! I also used to read a lot, but I haven’t done that as much anymore. These days, I enjoy watching new shows, going to the movies, and just walking around to clear my mind. Even if I’m not running, just walking—around Shelby Park—is really nice. Ruquyyah N: That sounds great! Thank you so much for your time. Mrs. Shahad: Thank you! Comments are closed.
